“There
is mystery in
her smile. She
sees the wonderful
Banhoek Valley
through the eyes
of a child, the
breathtaking mountains
and the exuberating
vineyards. Richelle
is a
product of passion
and love for all
the good things
that Zorgvliet
Wine Estate has
to offer. Celebrate
a fine balance
of Cabernet Franc,
Malbec, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Petit
Verdot and Merlot
- a classic wine
to be enjoyed
by all with a
passion for life.”
– This is
the message on
the back label
of a bottle of
Zorgvliet
Wines’
newly-launched
pride and joy,
Zorgvliet
Richelle 2004.
It all started
in 2003 with the
idea of a flagship
wine for Zorgvliet.
The brainchild
of Bruwer Raats,
Zorgvliet’s
previous winemaker,
Richelle
is a concept that
has been steadily
gathering momentum
for just over
four years. When
the estate’s
current winemaker,
Neil Moorhouse,
took over the
reins from Raats,
he also took on
the challenge
of furthering
this concept and
producing a very
special and elegant
wine.
“The local
wine industry
is under threat.
It is the responsibility
of industry role
players to attract
more consumers
and to make wine
farms and wine
experiences more
accessible to
the general public.
It is our belief
that wine tourism
should include
all the elements
of a working wine
farm and, as such,
our mission is
to share the magic
of the Banghoek
with others,”
says CEO and owner
of the family-run
Zorgvliet Portfolio,
Mac van der Merwe,
managing director
of Zorgvliet
Wines. |
