Ka’Ingo revitalises the Cheetah population of Southern Africa
Ka’Ingo Private Reserve & Spa runs a Cheetah Conservation Programme aimed at saving the endangered cheetah species whose natural habitat is being destroyed by expanding commercial farming activities and development. With fewer than 12 000 cheetahs remaining in the world, this type of programme is essential in preserving these fast cats. Although it is difficult to breed cheetahs in captivity, Ka’Ingo strives to revitalise the cheetah population in Southern Africa. Ka’Ingo has four cheetahs, obtained through a programme in South Africa that allows Game Wardens to capture animals from farms instead of shooting them. These four originate from the Kalahari and Lowveld areas and are now roaming free at Ka’Ingo.
The three identical male cheetahs were transferred to the Game Reserve and were later joined by a female cheetah. Ka’Ingo is committed to responsible tourism and conservation in the Waterberg biosphere.
