The Banhoek Room is situated on the Zorgvliet Wine Estate known for its award winning cultivars. The Zorgvliet Portfolio has recently added more honours to its name when they received no fewer than six medals for their wines at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards. The historical farm is also home to the Herenhuis Restaurant, which is in a restored stately house which dates back to 1692.

What is the legend of Banhoek?
The mysterious Banhoek Valley wasn't always as friendly and inviting as it is today. Once upon a time, before rolling vineyards and the establishment of the Banhoek Conference Venue, the valley crawled with fierce predators such as lions and leopards. Majestic elephant families also roamed the valley high up on the Helshoogte Pass.
There was but one road through the valley of darkness and those brave enough to travel it, would not dare to do so at night when man could fall prey to the hungry lions and leopards. If not dangerous enough, runaway slaves would attack innocent travelers leaving them for dead. The only other route through the dangerous valley was down the river.
Years have gone by, and the once untamed valley is now home to the prestigious Zorgvliet Vineyard Lodge & Spa.
