Summer is the time to be at the Vaal River where several types of watersports are offered daily. Possibly the best place to be if you want access to a variety of watersports, is the Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club on the banks of the Vaal River in Vereeniging. Only 50 minutes drive from Johannesburg it offers the ideal location for a day or weekend of water fun for the whole family, keen sport lovers, and outdoor adventurers.

Jet shuttle or Jet Ski
Jet Ski is the original trademark of Kawasaki for its watercraft models. Over time the name has developed as a generic for all types of stand-up motorized watercraft.
Wakeboarding
It is a surface sport meaning that it is one of the activities where you are not supposed to swim, but rather try and stay on top of the surface by riding a wakeboard which is towed behind a speedboat. It provides extreme fun and entails a combination of water skiing and surfing techniques.
You will be towed at a typical starting speed of 14 -22 km an hour. If you are not yet a pro, you thus don't have to fear blue marks all over your body because of high speed collusion with the water surface. The generally lower speed used for novices ensures that even if you have never done it before that it will not be too difficult.
Water skiing
Probably the most known activities on the Vaal, water skiing is still the most popular surface sport. The sport began in 1922 and has never lost its allure. With trick riding, speed races, show skiing, and slalom there is just never a dull moment. Get to the Vaal and feel the adrenalin flow through your veins as you literally slide over the water.
Tube ride
This is one of the best outdoor fun activities to be enjoyed at the Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club. A large tube is towed behind a boat and one or more persons hold on for dear life.
Small boat cruises
Rent one of the small boats which come with a driver and enjoy a fun filled day on the Vaal with friends or family.
Speed boat rides
Feel the power of a speed boat as you move at high speed through the water.
Wake snaking
Wake snake rides are similar to the tube rides except that the persons sit on top of snake-like tubes and enjoys the thrill of their lives.
